The services of my ancestors in assisting in pioneering Utah were as follows:

My father, Christian Rasmussen, was baptized Jan. 6, 1854
in Denmark, where he had joined the church. Coming to
Utah the same year, comming across the plains with ox
teams shortly after arriving in Salt Lake, he was sent to
Iron County to help in farm work that being his kind of work.
He first went to Cedar City, remaining a few years, then came to
Parowan, which was always after his home. He endured the hardships
of pioneer life, guarding the Indians, at one time spent three
months  at Fort Sanford under Edward Dalton and Silas S. Smith
and was called often to guard the Home town
My grandparents, Peter and Lena Sanderson Mortensen, with their
family of 8 children, came to Utah Nov 9, 1856  in the Hand Cart
company of Captain Willie. The early pioneer life was spent
in building log houses, each one doing all they could to make
their lives plesant, This family was very musical and many
happy hours were spent during the evenings to gather
Grandmother was an excelent nurse and did much good
in that way, all have remained true to the Gospel.
