The services of my ancestors in assisting in the pioneering Utah were as follows:

My father, Peter Mortensen, and mother,
Lena Sanderson, with eight children
came to Salt Lake City Nov. 9, 1856 and
were sent at once to nParowan Iron
County to help colonize. Southern Ut,
Father and brothers were coopers by
trade and furnished all settlers
with many useful articles such
as tubs, buckets and other household
articles, many of which remain today.
I though very young did much
carding, spinning and knitting
both wool and cotton. After the
factory was established, finer threads
were spun which were used for
making lace and finer articles.
