The process of shearing was started in March and continued until they were done
with the shearing in July. Traveling in a caravan to each herd. Theo sheared
right along with his men and then spent the evening sharpening the blades that
went to the electric shearers. In 1947 he sold his plant because Mexican
crews moved in to the area and did shearing much cheaper.
In 1947 Theo went into partners with his brothers Curtis and Elmo forming
Ellingford Brothers. They then built the New Motel and Theo and his family
managed it for thirteen years while Ellingfor Bros. built many things and bid on the
first bridges let in the United States on Interstate 80 in Wyoming. He worked on
highway structure construction until 1971, when he sold his interest back to his
brothers.
Theo then formed T.J.G. Inc. with his sons Jay and Garry, which included Ranch,
Prairie Inn Motel which they built, T.J.G Construction Company which all of Theo's
family could work for shares in. Theo loved to take care of the herd of cows on
the ranch and was hauling hay each afternoon for the feeding next morning .
All the family becamed involved with moving the cows to summer pasture and the
round up. The family was always well fed with plenty of good beef. Theo always
took Merdath and two or three grand kids with him each day and when the great
grand kids came along they went to feed too. Theo loved all kids, he would inter-
tain them for hours on end, and buy them gum, candy or |! give them each a dollar
every time he seen them. Every kid got a dollar.
In the 1980 s Theo was busy with two industrial parks and a shopping center,
two ranches, 264 head of cattle, a housing developement, Prairie Inn Motel, and
water wells.
In 1971 November 6, Theo suffered a heart attack, with a clot hitting the
lower part of his heart. He took care of himself and was feeding cows and doing
his ranch work two years after the attack. In 1980 at fair time in August he suffered
a stroke which impaired his vision and he didn't drive after that. Theo continued
to have strokes every year and passed away in an Evanston Hospital August 4, 1985.
Funeral services were held August 7, 1985 with burial in the Evanston Cemetary.
