Dear Mommy,

I did it. I wrote
to Steve this after-
noon. It was far from
the easiest thing I ever did,
but it wasn't as hard as
I had expected it to be. I
guess that's because I have a
firm, certain conviction that
I did the right thing.

I worry about how he'll
 take it. I hope Bill simply
plunges deeper into his work t
o forget it. I'm afraid that
he may let it make him
bitter and make him think that
his mission is useless and that it
